“The gentleman will speak English”

Congressman Anthony Weiner got so carried away talking about health care legislation this week, that he warned about sending millions to insurance companies while taxpayers get "bupkis." Committee chairman and fellow MOT Henry Waxman warned him that he was to speak English. Check out the video, the relevant exchange comes at the end.

I think the real point is that Weiner knows bupkis about Obamacare, which will not save money, maintain Medicare levels of treatment or ... and people forget about this ... be the insurance plan for our wonderful congressmen and senators who think it will be just dandy for the rest of us.

Why is that, Archie? Last time I looked, our country didn’t have an official language, but instead, celebrated and honored the contributions that many cultures and languages have made to the American way of life. And btw, if you want to limit our communication in such a way that we don’t use words that have their roots or origins in languages other than English… then bon chance with that, amigo!

Instead of being obviously affectionate it should have been as serious as if he had been speaking French, Iranian or Japanese.

I’m a republican. But 20+ years I did not have any medical coverage.

Sure, I’d better pay my taxes to my own coverage than to a Jet of insurance CEO

Obviously, the chair was jesting affectionately.

We all see the statistics that America’s current health care system is too expensive. Actually, our private system is the only system that counts up all the costs.

President Obama should just give everybody federal health insurance, but give people who elect to carry private insurance, a tax credit at the end of the year. That way non-participant individuals who like their coverage, could opt out without being obligated to pay in.
