I am a middle aged man , not Jewish, but married to a woman whose mother survived concentration camps in the Holocaust. Ten years back I was undergoing cancer treatments and had time to watch daytime shows. The view was one of them. Not too much rocket science there. This kind of humor is tasteless dribble doled out by women trying to act like humans but not quite making the cut. I don’t practice a religion, but I have the utmost respect for someone who does. I wouldn’t want anyone laughing about me because I have a particular belief, but then I don’t take my self worth from what I wear or how I look. My self esteem comes from kind acts towards others, a practice with which this woman obviously has no practical experiance in. Good people come in all forms, with many beliefs and in all shapes and sizes, well dressed or not. This is a popular medium where lots of good people feel a need for reasons of all types to show up and promote themselves, but it never does any of them any good as far as I am concerned, because the women on this show are symply there to draw a paycheck . One would be better off reading a good book. Dan D.

I’ve been a (Reform) Jew for 5 years as of Feb 6 and I know what Levirate marriage is… I’m just ashamed that a Jew would go on national television after being in a movie about Lubavitcher people, about Levirate marriage, and show that not only did she know nothing about her religion before all that, but even AFTER that she doesn’t seem to have learned anything. Ignorance is never funny, Susie, especially ignorance about yourself. I wish Joy Behar would change her name back to her Catholic last name so people would stop thinking she’s a Jew… she likes to give that impression until it suits her to point out that “Ta da! She’s Catholic!” But to her credit she at least seems to know more about Judaism than Susie.

Susie Essman’s comments were outrageous and ignorant. I bet she wouldn’t have made similar comments about lesbians, or black, Hispanic, and Asian women. Just as shameful is that only Joy Behar spoke up to refute her stupid - and thoughtless remarks.

Sorry, I meant to say:

I am a Reform Jew and I am dismayed at the cheap shots at the Chabad. I do not agree with the Chabad on many issues but I highly respect them. G-d made us all!

Once again television comes through as shallow and mean. There are some good productions but unfortunately one must sift through so much trash.
