These types of accusation, such as the ones above leveled at John Stewart are gradually losing their opacity and becoming more obvious for what they are....weak minded, political and moral deceptions. It is no secret that islamic extremists bear a hatred not just for Israel but for jews in general. They make no distinction between the state and the religion. So, obviously their derision of Israel can be viewed as anti-semitic. But to proscribe that formula to the rest of the world, including jews that you disagree with, is morally reprehensible and cowardly. John Stewart owes no blind allegiance to Israel. Why should he? He’s an American. Perhaps you would like to argue that this makes him an anti-semite but you would first need to acknowledge that you believe Israel to be a religious state. Otherwise we’re left with no other choice than to conclude you’re arguments are void of logic or reason. Anyone who objects to the Jews stand up to defend themselves against the murderers aiming rockets at their kindergartens, promotes said murderers’ cause. One can agree or disagree with various policies of the Israeli gov’t. But in this case there is no over-reaction. What is the “proportional response” when rockets are fired from Gasa into a Sderot kindergarten or a Ashkelon school? to fire into a kindergarten and a school in Gaza? Israel is doing the right thing in protecting its citizens. I hope that our country, the US, would have the fortitude to protect its citizens, including Jon Stewart, if we were threatened and attacked by our neighbors. And if he finds the death of many Gazans abhorrent, he should take those responsible to task - and those are the Hamas murderers.  Instead he blames Israel for their deaths, like all the anti-semites in the world who the jews for all the world ills and perpetuate blood libel. Side point the US has given Egypt as much as 3 billion a year in foreign aid in the past. With only a million inhabitants how much good could have been done if the Saudi’s had given the people of Gaza that kind of money to develop their economy?
