It’s too bad Stewart didn’t offer the true story of Channukah--the story of the Jews triumphing over the Syrians and the assimulationists.  Of course, that wouldn’t have been so funny…

Jodi -

I am a great fan of both the Daily Show and the Colbert Report, if for no other reason than these are the only sources that actually discuss the truth behind the news. Both are also hysterically funny.

My big complaint about Stewart is his endless apologizing for being Jewish - his physical weakness, his short height, sickening degradation of Jewish Holidays, even his stark Anti-Israel rants he occasionally gives. He is married to a Catholic and just seems to display shame for his being Jewish.

He did this for several years re homosexuals - had at least two or three gay-bashing “jokes” per show. Somehow he woke up and has stopped this nonsense. But Jewish pride will never be one of his strong suits.

Sad, but true. And yes, Chanukah is far far more than oil lasting 8 days. I really doubt this bothered Stewart at all.

Mr. Roberts makes very good points.  It is embarrassing to see Stewart go from embracing his Jewish identity to mocking it.
