Why Novak was cool to Israel
For years, the columnist dubbed the Prince of Darkness, who passed away earlier this week , was known as a harsh critic of Washington's close ties with Israel. But what made this Jewish-born convert to Catholicism such a staunch opponent of the Jewish State? James Kirchick of the Tablet Magazine believes he has answers.
In an interview for the online media outlet, Kirchick quotes John Barnes, a former colleague of Novak's, as saying the late journalist's animosity towards the Jewish State may have begun with the strafing of his longtime writing partner Rowland Evans by an Israeli aircraft while reporting from the Jordanian side of the border just after the 1967 Six-Day War.
"Two days after a ceasefire took effect, Evans found himself on the Jordanian side of the Jordan River with an Arab army regiment, when an Israeli fighter jet “'appeared out of nowhere and strafed them,'” Barnes recalls Novak telling him in a conversation they had in 1986. "According to Barnes, Novak said that the 'relationship between Rowley and Israel was downhill ever since.'”

What an excuse! Did Novak think that the IDF knew Evans was there when they defended themselves by attacking Jordan? The bottom line is that Novak was a self-hating Jew.
He hated Israel because he hated Jews. Just like someone with lupus rejects a tissue in their own body, he had an autoimmunity to Judaism.
For the sake of truth, let’s agree that Novak was a self-hating Jew, an enemy of Israel, a right wing bigot, a meshumed who far exceeded his new Catholic religion in defaming Israel and Judaism. He wrote fairly well, but that’s no reason to eulogize him or explain his hate away. As a Jew, I wish him the traditional BARUCH DAYAN EMET, but since as a Catholic he believed in Hell and eternal damnation for sinners, I’m afraid that’s where he is now roasting.
Where is the comment I posted, or does this thing take a while to digest things? If it does not appear soon, I will post it again, I saved it. SMILE.
Here is it is again, since it did not “take” the first time:
To all four of the men who posted above, you are all so full of hate and hatred! So Novak was not your cup of tea, is that any reason to wish him to spend eternity in Hell? You are all so full of hatred for a fellow human being, who was merely a journalist you didn’t like, why all the venom and ugly hatred? What has happned to my Jewish people? Shame shame shame on all you guys above for your venmous comments. Have you no hearts? I am appalled at the hatred I sometimes read on this website. It does not look for Jews to speak so full of hatred and ugliness. He was just a reporter, for G-d’s sake. And wish him to rot in Hell? I am really appalled and shocked at your hatred for a fellow human being. Ouch!
That’s What HAPPENS when a “journalist” is in a War Zone,Covering a War.
Rowland Evans was on the Jordanian Side of the LINE and WITH the Jordanian Army whose purpose was the Destruction of Israel.
Evans was HOPING to be there when the Arabs “THREW THE JEWS INTO THE SEA”
Evans and NOVAK are Now ROA STING in Hell,TOGETHER!
The world is a far better place without EITHER of them in it!

Firstly, I’m clearly wholly against Novak - he was very right-wing, and a puppet of various right-wing political and lobbying groups.
However, those of you who have posted above seem not to have read the extremely brief article.
EU WEI CHOI and HAROLD I FOX:- The colleague says that this apparently happened AFTER THE CEASEFIRE - therefore not in war, and not in any way defendable.
Incidentally, I don’t think somebody like Novak’s opinion would be fully dependent on one event, although it may be one of the major incidents in his life.
The hysteria an bitter, often disingenuous or misguided attacks on the man are very unpleasant to see...I think he had terrible effects and supported causes I am wholly against, but he was certainly not an anti-semite.
He was a man with a partly Jewish background who disagreed with the actions of Israel - it sounds like there was very little Judaism in his life in the first place.
