Blowing in the new year
Nearly every newspaper in America seems to have a Rosh Hashanah story of one kind or another. Here's a sampling:
- Alisa Israel Goldberg has some special guests to thank for the sweetness of her Rosh Hashanah table: 60,000 bees, reports the San Jose Mercury News.
- A project at the University of Washington Hillel called PostRegret asks local Jews to anonymously submit their most sincere regrets, which then will be posted at the school's Hillel shortly before Yom Kippur.
- In Jerusalem's Old City, the coincidence this year of the Jewish penitential month of Elul and the Muslim holy month of Ramadan is a reminder of the perpetual tension in this prayer-filled city, the New York Times' Ethan Bronner observes.
- For observant Jews, the month ahead is tough: Employees must take no less than seven days off from work over the next four weeks to take off for the Jewish holidays, some of which your employers probably never heard of, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

The difference between Jewish Calendar and Islamic Calendar is the 13th month.
Since 13th month is inducted in the Jewish year to make Solar-Lunar corrrection because of two consecutive new moons in the same sign, Islamic Calendar does not care about the solar-Lunar correction. That is why the 13th month is not included in the Islamic Calendar. This makes Islamic Calendar suspicious and incorrect.
Islamic Calendar merely seek completion of 12 consecutive months and brings new year. There is no mentioning of two new moons in the same sign that makes 13 months. Due to this incorrection in Islamic Calendar, the month of Ramadan rotates almost in every season from Winter to summer and rotation goes on. There is no Solar-Lunar correction.
As far as giving the numeric values id concerned to Jewish Lunar months, if same month occurs twice, there is no need to change its numeric value. Like for example, both Adar 1 and Adar 2 will be given the same numeric month value of 6. And 13 month will remain in the circle of 12.

Year 5768 had reaping and karmic theme; whatever seed we had sown during past 9 year, brought eventual results to us in 5768. This happened because, 5+7+6+8=26 reduces to number 8, a Shabatical year or a resultant year and completion of a 9-year cycle with 13-month long span (because of Adar 1 and Adar 2).
Year 5769 that reduces to single numeric value 9. 9 calls for actions, starting a fresh cycle and sowing new seeds; that will be resulted in year 5777=8.
Whatever actions will be taken during the year 5759, will affect the upcoming 8 years after 5769. So, we need to be positive and proactive in our action keeping their future repercussions in mind.
