Siegel Speaks: Election Apathy in Russia

Russia's Dec. 2 parliamentary elections are shaping up to be the least significant for the country's Jews in the post-Soviet era. With Vladimir Putin steering the country toward authoritarianism, why does nobody seem to care? JTA Moscow correspondent Matt Siegel talks to JTA Associate Editor Uriel Heilman.

never quite know how the Jewish population is doing in Russia since the topic is not covered in major US newspapers.Matt’s observations were very informative.

I am so pleased that Matt is on top of the news in regards to the Jewish population. Being of Russian heritage I am so glad that the Jews do not have to live in fear.
