A 'Jew' who doesn't believe in G-D is perfect for this type of movie which portrays Jews as cowards and weaklings.
Goldblum would have made a good kapo!

"It’s a mesmerising display of stammering and obfuscation."

Maybe because Goldblum was too polite to say, "Hey pal, that's really none of your business" or "sorry that I don't have a carefully thought-out theology to share with you. My mistake for thinking my field is show biz, not religion."

Besides, isn't stammering and obfuscation Goldblum's trademark tic as an actor? It would be like writing, "Asked about his views on global trade, Walken puts on a mesmerizing display of oddly emphasized sentences, whispery locutions and frightening stares."
