Israel has done nothing to restrain its illegal settlements, now advancing in both the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Netanyahu’s popularity has spiked as a consequence of making a freier out of Obama. For the Obama administration to continue to play the sucker by praising Israel for continued grand larceny will just inflate Netanyahu’s popularity and erode Obama’s in Israel. Let’s face it: the only gestures the Israelis respect is power. The Obama administration must administer some tough love, perhaps with a stick, to Israel. Unprecedented what?
