Obama, Iran and the ‘appeasement’ meme

President Obama uses Nowruz, the Iranian new year, to directly appeal to “to the people and leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” but especially the leaders. The usual suspects are already using the “appeasement” word. And JTA’s Ron Kampeas says not so fast. Plus video of the president’s message.

The Obama message to Iran, and the accolades attached to it

by U.S. congressmen and Europe’s Javier Solana, is actually an affront to the Iranians. Iranians would certainly feel offended when Obama tells them that they are preoccupied with “terror and arms, and a capacity to destroy.” That is U.S. policy - not Iran’s.

Then, there is the constant and naive U.S. propaganda call to

Iran “to join the community of nations!” But during Iranian v. U.S. and Israel issues that came to vote in the United Nations General Assembly, Iran received about 80% of the votes, and the U.S. coalition about 20%. Iran, therefore, is a valuable friend to about 160 nations, and that is “the Community of Nations.” Sure, the Obama video makes a big splash in the

western controlled media, but the Iranians know that it is just rhetoric to make the U.S. look good, but nothing else.

I don’t think that Iran will accept Obama’s offer of “Partnership in Commerce.” Iran knows that if U.S. companies are allowed to do business in Iran, their primary activity will be not commerce, but anything possible to subvert the Iranian regime - like they did against Hugo Chavez in Venezuela.

The Iranians would certainly reject Obama’s Trojan Horse

because -simply- they are not foolish. That is why Brazil’s president Luis Ignacio Da Silva told Obama last week that “South America needs a trust relationship with the U.S., not a relationship of [ U.S.] interference!”

Iran also see Obama as the facade behind which lurks Israel, and, therefore, they won’t accept someone controlled by

Israel and its Washington lobby. The epilogue: A lot of hot air by Obama, and a surely frosty reception by Iran. Then back to square one - enemies. Because Iran wants only a “trust relationship - as Luis Da Silva told him about Latin America - with the U.S. not one of interference.” And unfortunately, as former president Jimmy Carter admitted publicly, the U.S. president doesn’t control the political, and military industrial complex that has cemented itself with Israel.
