Palin on settlements: Jews ‘flocking’ to Israel need a place to live
Sarah Palin says she disagrees with the Obama administration's demand that Israel halt settlement construction, although her reason for that opinion is puzzling (or at the least demonstrates she's not familiar with the term "natural growth" that much of the debate has revolved around). She tells Barbara Walters that she disagrees with the White House because all the Jews moving to Israel need a place to live. From ABC News:
I disagree with the Obama administration on that," Palin told Walters. "I believe that the Jewish settlements should be allowed to be expanded upon, because that population of Israel is, is going to grow. More and more Jewish people will be flocking to Israel in the days and weeks and months ahead. And I don't think that the Obama administration has any right to tell Israel that the Jewish settlements cannot expand.
J Street responded by releasing a lengthy statement which condemned Palin's comments and accused her of pandering and ignorance. An excerpt:
J Street rejects Sarah Palin’s comments attacking President Obama’s sensible policy on Israeli settlements in the West Bank yesterday during an ABC News interview with Barbara Walters.
Palin’s pandering to her right-wing base comes at the expense of the security of the State of Israel, the lives of those actually living the conflict, and the fundamental American interest in achieving a two-state solution in the near term. Her words reveal a glaring ignorance of damaging facts and a callous disregard of past and present U.S. policy.

Obama is messing up the United States and damaging our relationship with Israel to the point that I (an American Chrisitan) am seriously considering moving to Israel.
Palin brings up a point that no one else has brought prior. More and more Jews are moving to Israel. With the unrest in Latin America and other countries, Jews are seeking refuge. Israel at this moment is really crowded. We as Jews should support our own. If we don’t no one else will.
Carl you are mixing religions. You are projecting your ignorance on people you don’t understand. Atheists have killed more Jews then anyone so, if you want to be afraid be afraid of them.
Carl, we Christians [born again] do not believe that you are just coming back to Israel to die there in order to bring back our God.
We as Christians believe in Jesus, the Jew, as the messiah as he has been foretold in the prophets, the psalms, and Moses, to name a few.
The prophets told us - the Jews and the Christians - that he will gather his people Israel after he scattered them all over the world back to their homeland. Happened after WWII. He will bring to pass that all Jews will be gathered by HIM into their land before he will reveal himself, the one whom they pierced coming in his Glory.
A true born again Christian will never dismiss Israel or a Jew, but as it is said by the Bible: Salvation comes through the Jews.
You are greatly mistaken when you think otherwise [which by what happened in the past I do understand] but WE LOVE Israel and we have a great deal of harassment - even persecution - to suffer because of our love of Israel. While our nations pressure Israel we are praying for you and stand for you.
For some people here which still have it wrong:
Not the Jews killed Jesus.
We all did.
And Jesus said so that he must die and be obidient to his Father and carry the punishment for the sins of the world, and after the third day he will rise from the dead and whosoever believes in him will have eternal life. This is what God had in mind for all of us from the beginning.
Go Sarah, keep your faith in Jesus and we’ll see what the future has in store for us.
Carl:
Why is it that a non-Jew like Sarah Palin makes my heart soar, and why does a supposed Jew like you sours my day?
Is it because she is a “dummy” to speak of and support our yearnings, and you, at the very most a timid and deracinated Jew has internalized the world’s hatred of Jews and have made it palatable for yourself by converting this self-hatred into anti-Zionism.
Look around the people who stand with you. They are not nice.
You’ll find yourself among potential murderers of Jews. They hate themselves as much as they hate “Zionists.”
First off, the fact is Jews ARE NOT flocking to Israel. Aliyah is down according to the Jewish Agency:
“Between January-December 2008, 15,379 people arrived in Israel under the auspices of the Jewish Agency, a 22% decrease compared to the number that arrived during the same period last year.”

In a nut shell, Sarah Palin has no idea of what she’s talking about. Business as usual.
And we Jewish Liberals don’t fear her - we laugh at her. Often. Let her keep flapping those lips of hers so the rest of the world can continue to see what a moron she is.
I’d rather she join the flat earth society, I mean, after all, she can see Russia from Anchorage, right?
Who cares what Sarah Palin thinks?? Does she even understand the issue? Meaning the plight of the Palestinians and Jews alike??? or is she just blind and all she can think of is just Israel? She is only talking to her base and that is it. In a very long time in this country, we have a president who is calling out Israel as most of the world sees its actions. To make this issue just about Israel shows how ignorant one is. It is about Palestine and Israel. That only way to achieve peace in the Middle East is by creating two states. We finally have a president who understands that.
Ralph, you wrote: “The prophets told us - the Jews and the Christians - that he will gather his people Israel after he scattered them all over the world back to THEIR HOMELAND (emphasis mine).....A true born again Christian will never dismiss Israel or a Jew, but as it is said by the Bible: Salvation comes through the Jews.”
I’ve got no argument with what you’ve written here except to say that many Christians claim to be born again Christians. Many claim to be true Christians. Take former president George W. Bush for instance. I voted for Bush in 2000, in large part because he claimed, unlike his father, to be a born again Bible-believing Christian.
Only Bush became the first US president to make the establishment of a Muslim-enemy state in the Holy Land a “formal goal of US policy.” Bush codified the abomination in our national Republican party platform in 2004. God pledged to Abraham He would bless those who bless Israel and the one who curses Israel, He (God) will curse. God warned the nations through His prophets to not divide His land, Israel, the very thing Bush sought to do immediately following the 9/11 Muslim-terror atrocities. If you are a true and a believing Christian, are you willing to acknowledge Bus -, whom millions of American Christians supported - is a phony Christian and a deceiver?
Both Hamas and Abbas’ PA have stated that no Jews will be allowed to live in Gaza or the West Bank once they get permanent control. Why should Israel be forbidden to have settlements of Jews living in these areas when 20% of the Israeli population is comprised of Palestinian Arabs who live all over the State of Israel?
Sarah Palin’s remarks are not pandering. If she wanted to pander, she would repeat the views of the traitorous J-Street Jews. She at least has the heart and head to understand the the villainy directed at the Jewish State. It is a nice change from the hypocracy of J Street that claims to be pro-Israel, while all the time making common cause with Israel’s enemies. With frinds like that, we don’t need enemies!
Irmgard Gesund
A large group of Mexican people are claiming their right to build settlements all across the face of the U.S., and they are killing people and throwing them out of their homes in states from California to Maine. Their ancestors once liven, just a couple of hundred years ago, on one third of what is now the contiguous United States. Don’t stand in their way as they destroy your crops and occupy or bulldoze your homes, as they claim the right of self defense against all such terrorist acts by you, the landowners who are being displaced. And Sara Palin thinks this is ok, and as it should be. Is she right?

Hay Carl, Are you from Mars? Palin speaks for the Jews because she realizes it is them against the world. Now, you, I think may be a mouthpiece for the Arabs. Why don’t you move to Gaza.
