Schumer takes credit for Freeman exit?
Greg Sargent at The Plum Line has a statement from Sen. Chuck Schumer saying he was a key player in getting the White House to "reject" the appointment of Charles "Chas" Freeman. Here's the statement:
“Charles Freeman was the wrong guy for this position. His statements against Israel were way over the top and severely out of step with the administration. I repeatedly urged the White House to reject him, and I am glad they did the right thing.”
Schumer never made any public statement about the appointment, but Sargent did report last week that the New York senator had called White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel with his concerns.
