Courting Pa. Jews
Hillary Rodham Clinton. Joseph Lieberman. Ed Koch. U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky. The campaign biggies are parading in and out of Pennsylvania in an effort not only to convince Jewish voters to support their guy but also to get them to the polls. While much of the media attention is focused on Florida and the Big Schlep, Pennsylvania has its significant share of Jewish voters - and a big contingent of senior citizens as well.
Even as the polls show Obama with a growing lead in Pa., the Jewish outreach effort is intensifying, with the Obama camp especially active. The local media is also highlighting the issue, with the Philadelphia Weekly spotlighting the Jewish vote. (Read below the old stuff on the Big Schlep and get to the analysis of the Philadelphia Jewish community.) The Jewish Exponent, too, is tracking the local race.

I’ve done my best to let Jews in Northeast PA know about Obama’s open association with and endorsement of anti-Semites like Al Sharpton. Lieberman is doing himself a real disservice by shilling for someone who empowers and enables racists and anti-Semites of the worst kind.
Does Lieberman know about Jeremiah Wright’s denunciation of Zionism as racism, and his advocacy of divestment from Israel?
I know of Jan Schakowsky only from her close involvement with the dishonest and disgraced Million Mom March, which I personally destroyed in 2000 by exposing its misuse of tax exempt money for political campaigning.
by misidentifying whom “Holy Joe” Lieberman is supporting, Bill Levinson shows that apparently he can’t tell the difference between McCain and Obama - sort of the way that grumpy old man McCain doesn’t know the difference between Sunni and Shia in Iraq.
As for his lady-love, Gov Palin: she believes in the literal interpretation of Scripture. Now, I ask you, in the 21th century, can this country afford to have a heartbeat away from the Presidency - and the nuclear briefcase - someone who believes in talking snakes?

My mistake re: Lieberman--I thought he was indeed supporting McCain, and rightly so.

You do realize that the story about the talking snake is from the Jewish portion of the Bible, don’t you? I do not share this fundamentalist belief but, when you belittle it, you insult many Jews as well as Christians.
Now, can we afford to have NO heartbeats from the Presidency a former cokehead, who is therefore automatically disqualified under the Nuclear Weapon Personnel Reliability Program, and who says he “pushed the wrong button” to explain numerous bad votes, anywhere near so much as a BB gun, let alone atomic weapons?
I can just imagine this guy apologizing to Russia after turning Moscow into a crater by saying, “Sorry, Vladimir, I must have pushed the wrong button.” OK, it’s not really a literal button, but my point is that this guy always has an excuse for everything--I didn’t know, my subordinate did it, I pushed the wrong button, I sat through Wright’s sermons for 20 years and didn’t hear a word of hate speech, it didn’t happen, I wasn’t there, and besides, I was just following orders… Yes, Barry has an excuse for everything and he is responsible for nothing--it’s “above his pay grade.”
In contrast, a Navy captain like John McCain knows he is responsible for everything that happens under his command, period.
