Rabbis for Obama

More than 300 rabbis from across the country and across the denominations are publicly backing Barack Obama for president. According to a press release, Rabbis for Obama is a "grassroots effort" founded by two rabbis from Obama's home state of Illinois, Rabbi Sam Gordon of Wilmette, and Rabbi Steven Bob of Glen Ellyn, and includes prominent figures such as University of Judaism rector Rabbi Elliot Dorf, former Central Conference of American Rabbis president Rabbi Janet Marder and Rabbi Burton Visotzky, professor at the Jewish Theological Seminary. Also on the list, named as one of the organization's vice chairs, is Rabbi Ethan Tucker – stepson of the head of the honorary Senate rabbis for McCain, Joe Lieberman.

The rabbis write that Obama "has been inspired by Jewish values such as Tikkun Olam and the pursuit of justice, and he is deeply committed as well to a civil discourse between opposing arguments." They also note the smear campaign against the Democrat and say "we feel it is our duty as Jewish leaders to fight for the truth and against Lashon Hara."

The full letter and list of signatories is here:

Dear Friends:

As rabbis who believe that Barack Obama is the best candidate to be President of the United States, we have formed "Rabbis for Obama" as a grassroots organization of rabbis from all movements and backgrounds. We join together to support Senator Obama for President, and we do so in the belief that he will best support the issues important to us in the Jewish community.

Some of us know Senator Obama personally, and we recognize that he has been inspired by Jewish values such as Tikkun Olam and the pursuit of justice, and he is deeply committed as well to a civil discourse between opposing arguments. We also know that Senator Obama will inspire young people, both in the Jewish community and the wider American community, to become more involved in improving this country and repairing the world.

We know that Barack Obama's longstanding, stalwart support for Israel is a testament to his own principles as well as the strong bi-partisan pro-Israel movement in America, and we fear that the attempts by some to use Israel as a wedge issue against him - unjustifiably - is dangerous in that it politicizes the pro-Israel position. Most importantly it has completely distorted Senator Obama's record. With his tough but pragmatic approach to Iran, Senator Obama is in the best position to restore faith in America as a leader in the fight against serious threats to Israel, our allies, and the United States.

Senator Barack Obama inspires in us the hope for an America once more called to its best values. We know him to be a man of incredible integrity, born of a deep and abiding spiritual faith based on the teachings of the Hebrew Prophets, and committed to achieving a world of peace with justice for all people.

We are fully aware that a smear campaign against Senator Obama has been waged in the Jewish community, and we feel it is our duty as Jewish leaders to fight for the truth and against Lashon Hara. Senator Obama has been viciously attacked using innuendoes, rumors, and guilt by association, and we urge our fellow American Jews to judge Senator Obama based on his own record and the clear statements he has made about his personal beliefs and principles. Continuing efforts to defame him and distort his record help perpetuate a deeply disturbing political process in our country.

We hope that the members of the American Jewish community will seek to learn more about the Senator, his story, and his positions on issues. Senator Obama's record and background clearly demonstrate that he shares our commitment to change the direction of this country, both at home and around the globe. Thank you,

IN MY PERONAL OPINION:

In reading a few stories about the so-called “rabbi” Waskow, it is apparent that he wants Jews to give up Israel to the plo and assorted muslim vermin. He supports give away of Jewish lands to arab vermin, and release of thousands of boody-handed arab terrorists.

Waskow---you make me puke.

Israel is G-d’s land, given to Jews, IN ETERNITY. If, YOU CLERICAL ERROR and friend of Jimmy Carter and countless muslim enemies, IF you would read the plain language of Torah, you would better understand that your LEFTIST ORGANIZATION is poison to Judaism.

Your Jewish followers are imbecile leftists. You seek to redefine Torah, to justify all sorts of evil.

I hope that Hashem punishes you severely for the damage that you are doing.

Your Daily Kos, Huffington Post, Carter Center and leftist enemies of Israel will NOT be able to save you. They will also be engulfed with the same flames of G-d’s anger, as you will.

You are living proof that Leftism is a severe mental disease, AND enemy of Torah.

Crawl back under your arab rock---VERMIN!

You are an enemy of Israel.

Chabad Rabbis and members ----as well as a HUGE majority of Orthodox Jews---JEWS WHO LIVE THE TORAH---these REAL Jews are OVERWHELMINGLY for McCain.

Check out the research.

WASKO---you and other bogus “rabbis,” merely hide behind the title of “rabbi” to advance your Marxist agenda (imho).

Israel and Tirah are TOO important for REAl Jews---ORTHODOX JEWS, to support Obama---an enemy of Israel.

Waskow---ask your bed-mate, Obama what promises has he made in Ramallah (Shechem) to Abu Mazen (Abbas)---the plo leader, and the one who received his Doctorate in HOLOCAUST DENIAL---ask Obama, what PROMISES HE MADE to Abu Mazen. How will Obama dismantle, weaken and destroy Israel and Jerusalem?
When crypto-muslim Obama was in Ramallah )Shechem), did he visit and comment on what the muslims have done to destroy the tomb of Joseph?  How about what they are doing to the Tombs of Rachel, and even the Cave of Mispalah in Hebron----where the muslims urinate on Torahs and defile the tombs of Abraham, Isaac, etc.

WSKOW---WHY do you NEVER condemn muslim violence, but ALWAYS condemn Jews defending and re-claiming G-d’s grant of Israel?

Waskow---- WHY HAVE SO MANY muslim arabs---devout ENEMIES of Jews and Israel---support Barack Hussein Obama.

Why do REAL JEWS---ORTHODOX JEWS----spit on YOU, Waskow and other traitors to Hashem and Israel?

Waskow....sell your Torah (if you have one) and buy a Golden Calf. In my opinion, you are EXACTLY what caused the Jewish people to be expelled from Israel for nearly 2,000 years. You, and your leftist vermin friends---all enablers and supporters of islam---wish to bring down Judaism and surrender Israel to our enemies.

Your true chant, IMHO, should be “JEWS---TO THE OVENS!”

SHONDA, CAPO, POS!!

http://www.masada2000.org had this to say about “rabbi” Waskow:

Rabbi Arthur Waskow
Waskow, Arthur “RABBI” Dresses like an a-hole because he IS an a-hole!  Hey, Arthur, join the freakin’ circus already!  Waskow is a leader of the Jewish Renewal Movement, a deviation from Judaism more extreme than even the apostate Reform and Reconstructionist movements.

I could not have said it better myself. Nice to see that there are still some smart Jews out there.

I just read the letter and then I read the comments.  While I disagree with using the off-color language and name calling, I do agree that the Jews that support Obama are OUT OF THEIR MINDS!!!!!!!!!!  This is just one more time in our society when Jews are more concerned with looking good in the eyes of the goim (and to the libs, this ‘goim’ is not an offensive term) instead of focusing on being Jews and being proud of what we are! And I do agree with Josh - religious leaders have to stay out of politics.

This is the month of Elul, the time of making some serious decisions, drawing conclusions over the year we are about to leave behind.

WAKE UP Jews for Obama! and draw the right conclusions (no pun intended).

Obama is the man who sat silently while his local church honored the anti-semitic Louis Farrakhan. He is the man who actively befriended his racist, hostile minister.  He is the man who never spoke out against the divestment campaign of the United Church of Christ (his denomination). He is the man who had a close association with Rashid Khalidi.  His is a history that could only give pause to anyone concerned about Jewish welfare and Israel.  How can these rabbis avert their eyes and actively endorse him?

These “rabbis” are mostly unemployed loser gay, lesbian and mentally ill losers.

It gives them a feeling of importance to claim that they are a “rabbi.” Check on every one of them. Most are vile, secular ham eaters. They are swill. NONE of them have the decency to avoid politics---especially with a muslim arab like Obama.

They are shameless, vile filth.

I recently read an article about the Rabbi’s for Obama organization in a recent Jewish publication. This appears to be an agenda to promote a political candidate and agenda via the pulpit. Of course, this is not new as many Christian organizations have been involved politically for some time.

Yet, many Jews, and I might add non-Jews alike, are the first to protest when religion and politics are mixed. Yet, they have now joined the same chorus and will now be subject to the same objections. My mother attended Synagogue yesterday to attend High Holiday Services for Rosh Hashonah. On one of the most sacred periods of the Jewish Year she was greated by a serious of Rabinacal sermons on “Why to Vote for Obama” and “The Rabbi is voting for Obama” as well as discussions on “Global Warming”, and then to ask for a bunch of money on top of that. Real nice!!!

Regretably, some of the same groups who detest mixing religion and politics, such as yours, are now subject to the same hypocracy. Not to even mention the IRS implications of selling politics from the pulpit, as I am sure you know, it is no wonder that so many young Jews leave the religion in later years. Thank you

ANY Rabbi---moreso---ANY RABBI, who on Rosh Hashana, would pimp for a vile muslim arab candidate… a candidate with NO love of Jews or Israel, should be tarred and feathered, and taken out on a rail.

Jews do NOT go to shul on the High Holy Days to be exposed to the Rabbi’s suicidal idiocy, and hate for Torah. Further, NO RABBI---especially in the midst of a Holy service---should pimp for any candidate.

Other than promoting and pleading for Israel, Rabbis---pulpit or otherwise---should NEVER be openly involved in politics.

BTW, unlike this STUPID liberal “rabbi,” REAL JEWS---TORAH-TRUE JEWS---ORTHODOX JEWS have approximately 80% support for McCain, and 12% for Obama.

Interestingly, as Jews observance level declines, their support fot Israel enemy Obama increases. Reform/Deform Jews are roughly at the same level of support for Obama as are the fully secular Jews.

These Jews will not survive as Jews. They are going down the drain, with their belief that liberalism is the highest form of observance

Nothing upsets me ore than stupid, liberal “jews.” People who have converted from the GREAT RELIGION of Judaism and Torah to be a stupid nothing sheep. A sheep who would believe that muslim arab Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. gives a damn about Jews and the survival of Israel.....but, as a liberal, you really don’t care about Torah or Israel.
