Christian Coalition: We love Palin and the GOP’s most pro-life platform yet

The Christian Coalition has issued a statement praising Palin:

Christian Coalition of America commends Senator John McCain for his selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, a pro-life conservative mother of 5 children including a Downs Syndrome baby born during April. Liberal and pro-life columnist Nat Hentoff said about Governor Palin in his column on May 26th: "I offer my unsolicited suggestion for (McCain's) vice president: the first woman – and youngest – governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, who is an unstereotypical and effective Republican."

Governor Palin said about her husband's and her feelings about their newest child: "We've both been very vocal about being pro-life. We understand that every innocent life has wonderful potential." She served notice to her Alaskan constituents after the birth of Trig Paxson Van Palin that being the mother of a child of special needs would not hinder her professional commitments: "It's a sign of the times to be able to do this. There is no reason to believe a woman can't do it with a growing family. My baby will not be at all or in any sense neglected." And she added, "I will not shirk my duties."

Roberta Combs, President of the Christian Coalition of America said: "Governor Sarah Palin is a bold choice for Vice President who is a courageous advocate for unborn children. In addition, she is a conservative who is a reformer not afraid to shake up the establishment. I congratulate Senator McCain for his outstanding selection for his vice presidential running mate."

In a separate statement, the Christian Coalition proudly declared that this year's proposed GOP platform contains "the strongest pro-life language ever in the history of the party."

Come on people - quit saying she has 5 kids to take care of!  A 19 year old, AWAY from home, a 17 year old, a 15 year old....come on now1 A 7 year old and 5 months.  So, she really has 2 kids who need her and she seems like an outstanding Mom - her kids beam at her!  Get over your own insecurities and judgments - a good choice!!

I am mother of 3 and work in executive job.  my husband is stay at home dad and does a great job being the homemaker.  you people who post about Ms Palin not being able to cope baffle me.  give more credit to our men that they can take on the home job while the wife runs the senate.  this woman has implemented more CHANGE in her time as Governor than Obama’s time in senate.  My Dad lives in Alaska, is a Dem, and is not happy about this.  He LOVES his governor and doesn’t want to lose her to the lower 48.

He who receives a little one receives the Lord.  He who destroys innocent life and casts a vote of confidence for those who do cannot please the Heart of God.  This issue drives to the very center of a persons character and their ability to lead.  If they don’t protect the innocent how will they protect the nation?  Palin has more character than either men on the opposite ticket combined.

This is the greatest choise McCain could have made. Obama should have been so smart. It doesn’t get any better than Sarah Palin

I find it interesting that we are endorsing a woman with 5 children, who most recently has given birth to a special needs child.  Have we forgotten the toll the white house takes on a family, that we would encourage her not to honor her commitment to this new calling the Lord has placed on her as a mother of a special needs child?  Is this about winning, or is this about what’s right?  Her heart is in the right place, but her responsibility should be to her family, not the country.  I think this is a very political choice, and is not the wisest decision for Gov. Palin, or for the country.

Brilliant choice...a real politcal end around. ... I was planning to sit this one out if McCain picked a moderate… Looks like I will be casting a ballot for the McCain Palin ticket.

Liz, since when is a mother of five with a disabled infant not the embodiment of family values??????  How offensive!

Barbara--I am so grateful there is one person with common sense out there.  If this women is so great in Alaska she should stay there and raise her family. “First Dude” as he calls himself can help her raise these kids.  There are so many hours in the day and she can’t do both jobs well.  John McCain is a mess and I would be embarrassed to see him become president of this country.
