Jewish Republicans: Biden’s soft on Iran

Here's the statement released by the Republican Jewish Coalition:

Washington, D.C. (August 23, 2008) – Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) Executive Director Matt Brooks issued the following statement today:

"With the selection of Senator Joe Biden as Senator Obama's vice president, the Democrat's ticket has now become an even greater gamble for the Jewish community. Throughout his career, Senator Biden has consistently been wrong on Iran and his voting record on Israel has been inconsistent. Like Obama, Biden fundamentally misunderstands the threat posed by an Iran determined to obtain nuclear weapons. Biden has continuously demonstrated poor judgment on Iran. He has voted against significant legislation that would pressure Iran to stop pursuing nuclear weapons. Biden has failed to recognize the serious threat that Iran poses to Israel and the US and its allies in the Middle East," said RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks.

In 1998, Sen. Biden was one of only four senators to vote against the Iran Missile Proliferation Sanctions Act, a bill that punished foreign companies or other entities that sent Iran sensitive missile technology or expertise. Biden was one of the few senators to oppose the bipartisan 2007 Kyl-Lieberman Amendment labeling the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization. In a December 2007 debate, Biden said "Iran is not a nuclear threat to the United States of America." On MSNBC's "Hardball," Biden said he "never believed" Iran had a weapon system under production.

"The Jewish community was already gravely concerned with Senator Obama's na?ve understanding of the Iranian threat. An Obama-Biden ticket has proven that it is ill-equipped to deal with this threat. By selecting Senator Biden to join his ticket, voting for Senator Obama has now become an even greater risk," said Brooks.

To whom it may concern;

I am a Pastor in Florida, I love the State of Israel. I know that Israel has many enemies including in the congress of the United States.

The Obama & Biden ticket is dangerous to Israel, Mr. Biden does not think that Israel is in danger from Iran, and voted 4 times against bill for iran to be sanction and for iran to stop the production of Uranium. Obama a while back stated that he would ask something in return for the monies that America gives to Israel. This to individuals are not good for America and Israel.

Enclosed a letter I have sendt Mr. Biden.

Mr Biden:

When general Dean was a prisoner of the communist forces in North Korea, there came a time when he was told that he was soon to be executed before a firing squad. He was given time to write a letter to his wife, in which he included instructions for their son. Under these most severe circumstances he wrote briefly but powerfully, “Tell Bill the word is integrity.” General Dean undoubtedly gave a great deal of thought to the advice that he wanted to leave his son. It would be difficult to improve upon his one sentence. It says so very much, “Tell Bill the word is integrity.”
Mr. Biden, just a few month ago you said twice, that Obama was not prepare to be President and for a handout you gave your integrity. Honestly Sr, you lost my vote and respect.

Joe Biden has always supported the underdog, the little guy being bullied, and has been against those in power abusing that power, so I doubt that Israel has anything to worry about in that department if it fits the underdog category.

Turning George W. Bush loose on the world, talking big and provocatively and throwing the weight of military intervention around hasn’t exactly improved the state of things.

The RJC resembles a facist organization. You are a bunch of bigoted fear-mongers whose approach is to shoot first and ask questions later.

To say that Joe Biden is wrong on Iran and Israel is as nuts as saying that the earth is flat. Fortunately, the rest of us (80 percent of Jews) are not Medved, Prager right-wing extremists. Obama and Biden have a much greater chance of quarantining Iran than you Bushies and McInsanes.

In last night’s debate, Sen. Biden repeated his dangerous claim that, “Iran [is] not close to getting a nuclear weapon that’s able to be deployed.”

Israel believes that Iran is very close to having that weapon.

In May, the President of Switzerland, Pascal Couchepin, disclosed that in December, they found evidence detailing construction plans for nuclear weapons, gas ultra-centrifuges to enrich weapons-grade uranium and guided missile delivery systems (evidence in a criminal case of a Swiss family of three engineers involved in the Khan ring).

That month Israeli cabinet member Shaul Mofaz said Iran could have a nuclear weapon “within months” and in June, former UN weapons inspector, David Albright reported that Iran had blueprints for a warhead that could fit onto Shehab-2 missiles.

Biden has a history of being mistaken on Iran.  A couple of articles:
