What’s wrong with being a Muslim?
The Miami Herald reports that some American Muslim leaders say Barack Obama's Web site aimed at countering rumors that he is a Muslim – fightthesmears.com – sends a negative message about their religion:
Vanessa Alikhan was at a Democratic ''unity party'' when she overheard another guest indignantly refute the rumor that Barack Obama is Muslim, as if it were a racial slur. She later recounted the conversation to a friend.''She told me that this is politics and that I should just deal with it,'' said Alikhan, a Fort Lauderdale graphic artist who converted to Islam about five years ago. ``To me this is the same as telling an African American or a Jewish person they should deal with discrimination because people aren't ready to embrace them as a group.''
She and other American Muslims are speaking out, as the Obama campaign pushes back on widely e-mailed and patently false claims that he is tied to Islamic terrorists. The rumor could be particularly damaging in a must-win state like Florida, which has a large Jewish population.

I don’t know that there’s anything wrong with being muslim- There’s is something wrong with lying about it. His father’s side of the family are all muslim- that makes him part muslim.
They (our government) teach hate and fear. They believe that is their job to explain their wars.
Muslim is a political party and not a religion. It shields itself in religion, but is not. A reading of the Koran and it’s prophet is adequate to demonstrate this to any thinking American. I would put it in the same catagory of ‘religions’ involving sex and drugs in their rituals.
You know what they say: point a finger at someone else and there are 3 pointing back at you.
According to the Bible numbers-crunching found in Seder Olam Rabah (a venerable “Orthodox” Jewish text), the Patriarch Jacob - who was 37 yrs old at the time - was betrothed to Rebecca when she was three (3) yrs. old!
Yes, Father Jacob was a pedophile- and so Muhammad was apparently following in his footsteps. You know what they say: ma’asay avot siman l’banim! Pedophilia is a Jewish institution adopted by Islam.
Obama’s site says it is a “smear” to be called a Muslim.
Imagine what would happen if a white candidate was “accused” of having African ancestry, and he said, “My opponents are SMEARING me by calling me part Negro.” The correct response would be, “No, I am not part African, but why do my opponents think there would be something wrong with me if I were? Are they racists?”
Obama, by the way, promised in “Audacity of Hope” to stand with Muslim-Americans against backlashes due to 9/11. However, his campaign staff explicitly prevented women in Islamic garments from getting anywhere near him when cameras were around.
Islam is the truth. arthur friedman, the obvious response to what you said is that judaism is a ‘religion’ that condones mass murder, since any reading of the Bible’s old testament makes it clear that the Bible (as it is currently written) gave express instructions to commit genocide (on a scale beyond that practiced by the nazis since it expressly orders killing even livestock) in order to take Israel.
Priscilla, the number of Muslims killed by Christians far exceeds the opposite number.
Islam is the truth, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the Last and Greatest Prophet. You don’t have to like Islam, that’s fine with us, and you don’t have to be Muslim, but you would benefit here and hereafter by being Muslim. And it won’t particularly hurt us if you spend the rest of your life as an unbeliever or as a believer in one of the other 2 Abrahamic faiths. But we would all mutually benefit from a higher level of tolerance, understanding, and educated communication instead of thoughtless and hateful attacks.
To Islam Is Truth - you say that “Islam is truth.” However, how do you know that? The Quran does not fulfill any prophecies in the Torah, and Mohammed did not prophesize anything that subsequently was proven to have occurred. The giving of the Torah to the Jewish nation occurred in a mass revelation at Mount Sinai which was witnessed by over 2 million people at the same time. The giving of Islam was by a savage guy who claimed that he was a prophet, but did not in any way prove it. Islam was then spread by the sword, and is to this day primarily a personality cult (to be a Muslim, you have to buy Mohammed). The foundation of Islam is very suspect and not credible. You would do yourself a big favor to rethink your belief system and learn more about the foundation of your own religion. Islam is a faith or so called faith born on hate of Infidels (us) The Islamic’s are told that all

It is based on hate out and out. And we will all find out just how much hate they have for Infidels

And according to their teachings if they die near any PORK they will go strait to hell - well as we all know most Americans have Bacon and Eggs or Ham and Eggs for breakfast and those Jet crimnal highjackers must have got a shock when they all wound up in hell because most of the Crew and Passengers on those flytes had a great breakfast of Ham or Bacon and eggs, even if only one person had those highjackers instead of going to the promise of 40 Maidens in Heaven went the opposit way.
Millions of jews were murdered because of Germans spreading the idea that Judaism was a tool for evil and a parasite on the earth,...and we have here a bunch of jews spreading similar ideas about Islam. Some people never learn. By the way,...if you want to really learn about “hate”,...just open the old testament and take it literally.
It’s quite simple: Everything. Islam is completely against the U.S. Constitution, democracy, the rights of women, children and animals. Islam is a fascistic, human-hating and woman-enslaving totalitarian system that thrives on abuse and cruelty.
The question is just plain stupid. Islam is what’s wrong with being a Muslim.
Oh, and for the Jew-hating imbecile above, I am not a Jew. Jews are not necessary to spread anything bad about Islam. Muslims do that just fine by themselves. Islam is evil, period. And all those who are encouraging the Islamic cult of death to take over the world are engaging in absolute evil against non-Muslims. Nice job.

If this is one of the aspects of being a Muslem than being a Muslem (in my book)is wrong. If a decent Muslem does not refute this approach, than he is also (in my book) wrong. And I could bring to you many more cases were Muslems are behaving in ways which are wrong in our eyes.
