Sharansky to unveil part of new vision for Jewish Agency in NY this week
The chairman of the Jewish Agency for Israel, Natan Sharansky, will be in New York this week to meet with the strategic planning committee he set up to discuss transforming the organization.
Since Sharansky, the famous former Soviet dissident, took over the agency last summer, he has been openly talking about his desire to have the organization that was historically charged with settling the State of Israel and its immigration focus more on Jewish identity building.
He will meet with 25 or so top lay and professionals of the agency at the UJA Federation of New York Wednesday to discuss in detail the plan that he has been crafting with the committee. The committee will then take Sharansky's vision, discuss it and prepare to formally present it at the organization's board of governors' meetings in June.
