JTA: The Global News Service of the Jewish People

No new UJC head yet…

As we reported here last month, it appears that the United Jewish Communities has narrowed its list of possible replacements for its outgoing president and CEO Howard Rieger.

The name with the most buzz is that of the CEO of the Foundation for Jewish Camp, Jerry Silverman. And the buzz has certainly picked up in recent weeks.

But, despite a an anonymous email that went out earlier today and a report on another blog that the deal was done and should be reported today, it appears that the wait is still on.

According to my sources, no deal is done.

But a decision could be coming on who might succeed Howard by the end of the month. Stay tuned.

You’re right Jacob, who knows?

Perhaps that anonymous email and other blog report took the spark away from the expected announcement. But if Jerry has plans to show up for the various Jerusalem meetings, UJC is running out of time.

Don’t know… looks like everyone is still more in the dark than we want to be. But I do know Jerry was in Boston today working out of the FJC’s office there. I know you can sign a contract long distance, but he’s also been out of town a lot recently from what I hear.... We shall see. We shall see…
