Louisville JCC and federation merge

The two largest Jewish institutions in Louisville, Ky., have merged, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.

The Jewish Community Center and the Jewish Community Federation of Louisville merged after a year and a half of negotiations, the paper reported Monday, a union made necessary by the JCC’s financial difficulties and the federation’s stagnating annual campaign.

The Jewish population in the area has also started to drop, sitting around 8,400 now.

The new organization does not anticipate any programmatic changes.
